It has been Olympics and Democrats on the front page of the paper for the last three weeks.
What the hell are the Republicants doing? Twidiling their thumbs?
"We lament with special anguish the war in Iraq, launched in deception and violating global norms of justice and human rights," the Conference said in an emotional letter released during the World Council of Churches Assembly in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
The statement from the U.S. group accused the Bush administration of "raining down terror on the truly vulnerable among our global neighbors," saying the United States "has done much in these years to endanger the human family."
It said the U.S. government turned a deaf ear to the voice of the church in the country and in the world, using God's name instead "in national agendas that are nothing short of idolatrous."
"We confess that we have failed to raise a prophetic voice loud enough and persistent enough to deter our leaders from this path of pre-emptive war. Lord, have mercy," the letter said.

Valentine's Day = Pink & Red Don't Clash Day
Valentine's Day = Suprises from coworkers and friends
I shouldn't complain so much. It's really not that bad. I have very nice roommates and a room with a view of the lake right in the heart of the downtown. And I went shopping for new shit to make me feel better. You'd be amazed at how much a rolling plastic drawer can do to make you feel better.
But, unfortunately we have no internet and that makes for a lot of DFL work during my lunch hour. I think the waitress at Ground Round thought I was a major geek updating websites and ignoring my meal.
But I did have a wonderful evening on Saturday night with tons of people that I haven't seen in way too long. Pictures coming soon, I didn't have a chance to do that part at lunch.
Anyway, here is an opportunity for you all to get in on the action:
The end of Mary's Campaign Kick-off tour has come to Bemidji
Join us for coffee, cookies and chit-chat
Thursday, February 9 at 4 at the Eagles
then:
Frank Moe's Dessert Fundraiser featuring
Past, Present and Future Legislators - Live and via Teleconference
and Brownie sundaes and Cheesecake
Also Thursday, February 9 from 6-8 at the Country Club
See you there!
I stayed with my friend Anika and we went out on Saturday night with Ben and Joe from Bemidji. Pictures below. My drinks were actally all paid for! (Bemidji boys wake up!)
Cities food is so wonderful: I had yummy curry style pad thai on Saturday night, got lots of yummy bagesl at Breuggers on Sunday and stopped for free coffee (with my gift certificate) at Caribou and fresh pretzels at Crossroads on my way home. I successfully only spent $2.18 at the mall:)
I'm watching the Superbowl halftime show - the sound is crappy and Mick Jagger is creepy - stop wiggling, you're gross.
And we can't forget Friday night when Kate and I ventured over to U Bar - just for something thing different. It could have been worse. Bennett was there and Kate kept pointing out everyone who had been in jail - scary!
"Cause I come to work everyday, sit in my cubical, stare at my computer and you don't know what the hell I'm doing. But I get my work done and that's what matters."Just kidding. I had to do a consultant report today so I can be paid and it made me think of an elementary school writing assignment.
