I'm back, you may have noticed a slight design update
I'm finally coming to the end of my email inbox queue after neglecting my email since November 14th. I trashed most of it, but there were a few messages which required attention.

The internet could not be more flaky here at the tool shed. Our wireless router is broadcasting a dead connection and we're somehow connected through "olson family network", which I thought is what I used at Mary's house. I pretty much doubt that we can pick it up from here. But, there is a phantom connection that times out about once every half hour and tops out at speeds of 5.5 mbps when we're lucky.

What I want for Christmas
Real Live Preacher Christmas Stories. This year he's added The Shepherds' Story to A Christmas Story You've Never Heard. These are extremely moving and intriguing perspectives on the Nativity. Plus, you're supporting a small time writer.

End of the Line
It's the night before I'm officially done with my job and instead of feeling elation, I'm really sad. I thought this would come on election night, when the stress of the previous days comes to an end and a wave of emotion overcomes me. But, that never happened this year - it was too surreal.

Now, the idea of leaving the people that I spent every waking minute with for the last five months, makes me want to cry.

Maybe, part of my sadness is the stress of having to lead the County Unit meeting tonight (by the way during the campaign season I became the new chair when our old chair had to move away for a new job) and really not knowing how the hell to convene a meeting of the county central committee so we can elect a new chair and associate chair. And the fact, that if people don't take their shit tonight, I have to deal with it later.

This is how awesome my mom is:
She came in to the headquarters today to volunteer. She cleaned out the fridge, did our dishes, bought a mop, bucket, gloves, dish towels, bottled water and mopped the floor when the toilet overflowed, cleaned up our food from today, dumped the coffee, brought me dinner and still made about 200 GOTV calls too.

And before she came in this morning she brought Mary to the senior housing where my grandpa lives and introduced her around.

And she just happens to be our co-manager.

I love her SOOO much. I just had to share. And my grandpa and I were on her GOTV lists too.

God and stuff
I miss church. I miss EPIC Journey worship. I miss the act of imagining and participating in experiential and active worship of God. I miss the doing of church. I miss spiritual discussions with wise and heretical theologians. I miss talking about God and politics with Kari. I want to talk to Kari about how great the Sufjan Stevens Christmas CD would be at an EPIC service. I want to hear about the great cultural material with spiritual significance she has found.

I miss youth group. I miss the ragtag group of kids coming into adulthood with a million questions. I had to run a couple errands last week and while driving I went past them doing their annual scavenger hunt for the food shelf. It broke my heart that I couldn't be there with them.

I need some spiritual fulfillment that doesn't come on Sunday mornings.

On that note, check out the latest sermon from my church
