the cs lab is an oasis - our little corner of hagg-sauer hall. almost no one even knows it exits except us computer science students. it is outfitted with beautiful, new, fast, computers with linux and xp, and flat screen monitors and dvd burners. a couple of couches (where students are often found sleeping), tables to do homework, a microwave, a fridge and a phone (on which we often order pizza - especially those late nights working on code till the wee hours of the morning.) not to mention, the huge new flat plasma screen tv on the wall.
we all convene in here before and after classes. after school and late at night.
life in the cs lab. i used to think it was a wonderful little community, but lately it is becoming a boys club. at times i feel alienated by the female bashing going lately (masked as joking - but it has been just a little too much too often). i'm not going to let it slide anymore. i'm going to stand up for myself. probably the best way to do this is to do my homework ahead of time - and resist the temptation to ask those boys for help.
